By the time the skiers took to the pipe at Snowbasin, the snow was starting to really come down in Ogden. The powder just kept coming harder and harder as the contest progressed, adding another element to the challenge of conquering the 615-foot superpipe.

Putting together a run that started off with a 900 into an alley-oop 900, a left 720 tailgrab, switch alley-oop right 720, 540, and right 540, Broby Leeds capped it off with a big 1080, taking the lead away from Hunter Visser with just one rider left in the contest. Leeds, making his first appearance in superpipe finals since 2010, held on to take the win and claim the championship and the spot in next year's Winter Dew Tour.

Broby Leeds

The 17-year-old Leeds had been going for a similar run on his first drop-in, but washed out on the second of his back-to-back 540's. "I added a couple hits," Leeds said of adapting his run to the contest. "I didn’t have to add in anything new, but worked on performing them better."

At Leeds' first superpipe final in 2010, the contest was won by a young kid named Torin Yater-Wallace. Just two years later, Torin has become one of the biggest names in the sport. Leeds will now have a chance to take advantage of a similar opportunity, as his pre-qualified spot in next season's Winter Dew Tour is secure. "I’m very excited!" he said. "I have a lot to learn I think, but it should be lots of fun."

Hunter Visser's 2nd-place run was pretty stellar in its own right. The Canadian skier dropped in and executed a 900, right 540, another 900, back-to-back 720's and an alley-oop flatspin 540 to top it off. Visser held the lead for a good portion of the contest before giving way to Leeds. While he didn't top the podium, Visser established himself as the most consistent rider of the contest, posting 2 of the 3 highest single-run scores of the contest with an 85.75 and an 85.25.

Hudson Knoll rounded out the podium in 3rd, landing an alley-oop flatspin 540, back-to-back 540s, and a flair in his run. You also gotta give it up for Conor Garrecht-Connelly, who competed with a broken right thumb that forced him to ski with one pole. CGC put down a solid 2nd run, throwing a combination of 900's, alley-oop flatspin 540's and flairs to finish one spot outside the podium.

The snowboard world is now officially on notice. The name Kent Callister is one that will come to be known more and more over the next few seasons. The 16-year-old scored his second win in a 24 hour span, pairing Saturday's slopestyle win with a superpipe championship on Sunday, in the process becoming the first competitor to ever win 2 championships in a single Gatorade Free Flow Tour season.

Dropping in for his first run, Callister immediately caught the attention of the fans and judges with a monster backside air on his first hit. From there, he threw down the gauntlet, landing a frontside 1080 on his 2nd wall. The rest of his run was stellar as well, executing a Haakon flip, frontside 720, frontside 900, into a backside 900, then wrapping it up with a crippler.

Kent Callister makes it 2-for-2

Callister was one of three riders to successfully land a 1080 in the contest. Chase Josey landed a frontside 10 a little deep on his first run, leading him to wash out on a front 9 on his next hit. Showing lots of promise despite the first run troubles, Josey bounced back on his 2nd try, throwing back-to-back 900's before going into the frontside 10. Wrapping his run up with a cab 720, frontside 720, and an inverted backside 900, the 16-year-old from Idaho posted a great score that put him into 2nd.

Brandon Davis, the only rider in the contest aside from Callister pulling double duty this week, also landed the 1080, doing it cab on his first run. The trick was preceded by a Haakon flip, back-to-back 540's and a frontside 720. The run landed him on the podium on 3rd, a modest improvement from last year's 4th-place showing.

Callister's 2nd run brought about one of the day's biggest "did that really just happen?!" moments. Needing something major to step up his already-impressive score, he attempted a double mctwist in the middle of his run. An amateur rider even thinking of throwing a trick like that just seems to defy plausibility. Even though the trick wasn't landed, the fact that he even went for it gave everyone in attendance a glimpse of what the future might hold. Adding a double mctwist to the first run Callister had is the kind of thing that gets you into a Winter Dew Tour final.

Another notable contestant was Max Jenson, the youngest competitor in any contest this weekend. If that name sounds familiar to any of our season-long fans, it could be because he competed in skateboard vert finals at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour this past summer. Safe to say the kid's a legitimate two-sport athlete at just 13 years of age. He launched huge backside airs in the pipe and demonstrated execution of the frontside 900 and Haakon flip.

The men's contest was preceded by the ladies. Kirby Kelly, the only girl to make superpipe finals in all 3 years of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, held the lead entering the 2nd set of runs. But before the order could circle back around to Kirby for a victory lap, 16-year-old Kelly Berger stated her case for the title.

Kelly Berger

Berger's run started off with a frontside 540, backside 540 and back-to-back-airs, all setting up a big-time frontside 720. The run wrapped up with a cab 360 and a frontside air tailgrab. The 720 really helped set the Mammoth Lakes native apart form the rest of the contenders, giving her the lead with just one rider to go.

Coming back around to Kirby Kelly, the challenge had been issued. She'd need to find a way to top what the judges had just witnessed. Kirby landed a mctwist on her first hit, going into back-to-back 540's and 3 setup airs before attempting a backside 900, washing out in the process. The 2nd place finish matched her previous best result at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, when she finished as the runner up in 2010.

Noelle Edwards rounded out the podium for the women, with Shannon Branthoover taking 4th a day after competing in slopestyle.

With the wins, Kent Callister and Kelly Berger earn pre-qualified spots into next season's Winter Dew Tour.

]]>

Nick Goepper won the men's freeski slope Finals at Sunday's Winter Dew Tour Toyota Championships with his score of 95.00 and he was also voted the Mitch Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.

In his winning run, he stepped things up and did a switch double 14 instead of the switch double 12 he did in his first run.

His run started with a 450 on 270 out on top rail, front swap backside 450 out on A-Frame, on the cannon box he did a switch 2 on rodeo 450 out. For the jumps, he started with a switch left double 10 Japan and finished with a switch right double 14 mute.

"I’ve been so close all year, but to finally get the number one spot feels awesome," Goepper said.

Tom Wallisch took home the Dew Cup and also won Toyota Athlete of the Year with his second-place finish and score of 92.25. He was ranked first overall with wins at each of the previous two Dew Tour stops, and he was the last to drop in to the finals with the only shot of bumping Goepper off the podium. Wallisch has come back in his second run to take the win at each of those events. But today in Utah, he was able to increase his score by one point, but it wasn't enough to overtake the 17-year-old Goepper.

"I’m not much of a go for broke, last run huck yourself, try something new kind of guy," Wallisch said. "I’d rather see skiing be smoother. Just full, complete, good runs. I never really try to huck myself second run. I just go for cleaning it up. Making it as smooth as possible. And it’s worked for me in the past, so I’m going to keep doing it."

His run went like this: switch lip 2 pretzel 2 on the down rail, to switch on frontside switchup backside 450 out, to switch on to cannon rail backside pretzel 450 out to switch. He hit up the jumps with a switch left double cork 1080 Japan to switch right double cork 1080 Japan.

Defending Dew Cup champ Bobby Brown finished third with 91.00 after his second run that started with a switch 2 to pretzel 2 on first rail, switch on to switchup inward 2 out on second, cork 630 on cannon then right double 12 to switch double 14 on the last two jumps.

"I was struggling on the course the last few days," Brown said. "I’m just stoked that I’m on the podium, and Goepper and Wallisch killed it today. I’m just happy to end the Dew Tour on the podium."

This was the first year for a Dew Cup in women's freeski pipe.

Kaya Turski won the women's freeski slope title with her score of 93.75, increasing her lead by one point in her second run at the Toyota Championships on Sunday, and she also took home the Dew Cup. This was the first year for a Dew Cup in women's freeski pipe.

Turski is on a hot streak after winning the X Games and the last stop of the Dew Tour. It's not suprising, with a winning run that consisted of switch 2 onto the flat box, gap blind swap on the flat down, blind swap on the A-Frame rail, into a blunt 450 off the cannon. For the jumps, she started wtih a switch 720 high mute into a switch 5 Japan.

“I’m training really hard," Turski said. "The opportunity of us being in the Olympics is really huge for me. I’m very excited to go and represent Canada in 2014.”

Second place went to Australian Anna Segal, who scored a 90.75 on her final run and pulled of her first cork 9 without ever attemping one.

Her run went like this: transfer from down rail into down box, back switchup on the up down rail, back 270 out grab on up cannon, right 7 safety on first jump and left cork 9 mute on second.

"I'm really excited to be up on the podium with Devin and Kaya," Segal said. "Those girls are so progressive and so solid. At X Games, Devin beat me, so it was kind of cool to one-up her on this one. Especially since she already won the pipe. She's had her fun."

Devin Logan - who won the Dew Cup and the competition for women's freeski pipe yesterday evening - podiumed again today with a third-place-finish after her first-run-score of 89.00.

"Devin really gave it her all, she’s keeping me on my toes," Turski said. "All the girls are really skiing well these days. The level is definitely being pushed. So it’s really exciting being up there and dropping in, you really have to bring your A Game, and that’s what I did."

Devin's started her higher scoring run with a switch on to up gap down box, to blind 270 out of the up down rail, to 180 safety grab out of the cannon. She hit up the jumps with a switch 5 mute on the first into a cork 7 tailgrab on the last.

She was also in contention for the Cup in slope, but after such a solid season, she had no regrets.

"I was just so happy with yesterday, I just wanted to come in today and have fun and that’s what I did," Logan said. "Just getting another podium is awesome in my eyes. I’m not upset that I got third at all, I’m actually really happy with how I skied."

<![CDATA[Sebastien Toutant Takes Snowboard Slope Victory Lap and Earns First Dew Cup]]> http://allisports.com/alli/news/sebastien-toutant-wins-mens-snowboard-slope-finals-and-the-dew-cup Sebastien Toutant won the men's snowboard slopestyle Finals with his second-run-score of 94.50, increasing his lead on his victory lap. His win secured his first Dew Cup at the Toyota Championships at Snowbasin Resort. Dash Kemp was second with 83.50 and Spencer Link was third with 77.25.

]]>

Sebastien Toutant won the men's snowboard slopestyle Finals on Sunday with his second-run-score of 94.50, increasing his lead on his victory lap. With the win, he also took home his first Dew Cup at the Toyota Championships at Snowbasin Resort in Utah.

Toutant held onto first place after his first-run-score of 90.25, and secured the win as the last rider to go. But he still put all he had into his second run, with a back 270 on first rail, 5050 gap frontside 3 out on the second, front blunt 270 out on the up box, into a front 10 double on the first jump and finishing with a back 10 double.

"It feels great," he said. "The first stop I got second place, the second stop I got second. To end up the season with a first place and winning the Cup, it’s a great feeling. Especially because I didn’t have a really good time riding this course because it was really hard and the weather was always pretty bad. But I’m just stoked I rode pretty good and I’m first. I couldn’t be more happy."

Dash Kemp took over the second-place spot on his first run with a score of 83.50. His run went like this: Cab 270 on, to front board tail 270 out, into front 3 back 5 off the cannon, then cab 9 tail into back double 10 on the last two jumps.

He came back in his second run looking to increase his podium position, and he was riding solid until the last hit sent him straight to his face on the landing. His face quickly swelled up and he ended up with a concussion, but was ok to walk away. The upside was that his first-run score held on until the end, and he remembered absolutely nothing about the crash while heading to the podium to accept his award. This is his first season competing on the Dew Tour.

"I feel like I'm in the twilight zone right now," he said. "This is crazy. I’m so stoked."

Spencer Link earned his first Dew Tour podium with his third-place-score of 77.25.

"It feels awesome," Link said. "Dream come true."

"This morning I thought it was going to go bad," he continued. "Practice went horrible. But then I calmed down and I just rode how I could ride."

Link's higher scoring first run consisted of a backside nosepress on the up down, to front 360 over, to backside 180 out on cannon rail. On the jumps, he landed a Cab double 9 to a backside double 10.

With flat light conditions and a course consisting of three rail sections and two jumps, many of the heavy hitters had to deal with falls in thier runs.

Eric Willett was coming off a win at last month's Pantech Invitational, and he had a chance at winning the Cup. But his first run he crashed and in his second he had a bit of a hand drag after his backside 9 that left him in 7th place when the contest ended.

Other big contenders that finished off the podium were Sage Kotsenburg, who had a good first run but not up to his full potential, and his score suffered after a fall on his second left him in 6th place. Gjermund Braaten, who won the first stop of the Winter Dew Tour, also had slight deduction for a hand drag in his first run. He finished 5th.

<![CDATA[Dual-Threat Kent Callister and Brooke Voigt Crowned Snowboard Slopestyle Champions]]> http://allisports.com/alli/news/kent-callister-and-brooke-voigt-crowned-snowboard-slopestyle-champions The second day of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals brought with it snowboard slopestyle finals for the men and women, with Kent Callister and Brooke Voigt topping the podiums.

]]>

The second day of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals brought with it snowboard slopestyle finals for the men and women. Considering the prize at-hand for the winners - a spot in next year's Winter Dew Tour - It's only fitting that the finalists were tasked with mastering a course designed for pro riders. While the course did present itself as a challenge for many riders, they still rose to the occasion in impressive fashion.

In the men's contest, 16-year-old Kent Callister was the last rider scheduled to drop in for his run, allowing him time to take stock of the contest. "It's a little bit [of an advantage] just to see if anyone was landing their run or not," Callister said.

Kent Callister

Among the riders Callister got to watch was 21-year-old Mark Reininga, a past finalist in the Gatorade Free Flow Tour. In his run, Reininga landed a 50-50 to frontside 360 out up top and a backside 900 on the first jump, putting him in the lead.

A few minutes later, Callister dropped into the course and layed down a sick run, exhibiting control on the top rails and landing some big spins on the jumps at the bottom. Most importantly for the Bend, Oregon native, he executed all the tricks he wanted to get into his run, leaving nothing on the table. Callister's run started off with a frontside lipslide on the first rail, into a boardslide to fakie on the 2nd rail. After a cab boardslide 270 out off the cannonbox, Callister then reached the jumps section, lofting a cab 900, and then adding a frontside 1080 as the exclamation point to his run.

Becoming the first rider top crack into the 80's with his score, Callister grabbed the top spot, outscoring Reininga by just a single point.

The 2nd set of runs was a wait and see game for Callister, but even with everyone going all out, no one was able to top his score.

By the time the contest circled back around to him, the contest was locked up, and he just took a mellow victory lap through the course. "The course was super fun," an excited Callister said after the contest. "I really liked it."

With the win, Callister earns a pre-qualified spot in next year's Winter Dew Tour. "That'll be pretty sweet," he said, looking ahead to next year. "I'm stoked to do that."

One of two riders competing in both disciplines this weekend, Callister will now look to carry over his success to Sunday's superpipe finals.

Mark Reininga held on for 2nd place, while fellow video contest winner Wylie Adams took home 3rd.

In the women's division, 18-year-old Brooke Voigt claimed the top spot. Making the trip with her boyfriend Tyler Macrae, who competed in the men's contest, the Canadian went 50-50 on the first rail, into a 50-50 frontside boardslide, then a tailgrab off the cannon rail. She then landed a smooth frontside 360 on the first jump, earning points from the judges for her execution.

Voigt was challenged by Nirvana Ortanez and Jessika Jenson, both of whom landed back-to-back 360s, but ultimately had to settle for 2nd and 3rd, respectively. We also saw some solid riding from Kirra Kotsenburg, younger sister of Sage, who challenged the podium, but finished just outside in 4th.

All in all, it was a solid day of riding from this group of ams, and it all leads into what should be another exciting final on Sunday for snowboard superpose.

<![CDATA[Spencer O'Brien Nails Second Run to Win Women's Snowboard Slope Finals and Dew Cup]]> http://allisports.com/alli/news/spencer-obrien-wins-womens-snowboard-slopestyle-final Spencer O'Brien came back from 5th place to take the win and the Dew Cup at the women's snowboard slope Finals at the Toyota Championships.

]]>

Spencer O'Brien came back from 5th place to take the win and her second career Dew Cup at the women's snowboard slope Finals at the Toyota Championships. She nailed her second run with a switch boardslide to 5050 on the up gap down box, to a frontside boardslide on the A-frame to switch on the cannon. For the jumps, she went switch backside 5 mute into a frontside 7 indy.

"It felt really good," O'Brien said of taking the win. "Kind of surreal. I wasn’t really thinking very much on that last run, so when I stomped that last trick I was so happy. It’s a lot of pressure when you don’t land your first run."

Enni Rukajarvi, of Finland, was second with 86.50, riding without goggles to adjust to the flat light conditions. She threw down a noseslide, tailpress, 5050 stalefish, and back 5 into a Cab 5 on the two jumps. She also finished second at the last women's snowboard event in Breckenridge, Colo., the Nike Open, and this was her first time doing the entire Dew Tour.

"I’m so happy for getting second," Rukajarvi said. "I had big troubles in the practice landing my tricks so I’m just happy I landed my run."

South Lake Tahoe's Joanna Dzierzawski was third with 80.25 after putting together a switch boardslide to tailpress, 5050 to front board on the up down rail, up the cannon poke out, and a back 3 into front 3 off the toes on the jumps.

"Oh my gosh, I am so happy to have made it to Finals at the Dew Tour," Dzierzawski said. "It’s my first time making it to all the stops. It was just so awesome and the course was really fun. All the girls were so supportive as always, and I’m just so happy to be here."

<![CDATA[David Wise Wins Mens Freeski Pipe and Kevin Rolland gets Dew Cup]]> http://allisports.com/alli/news/david-wise-wins-mens-freeski-pipe-finals-rolland-cup David Wise won the mens freeski pipe Finals with a score of 94.50 and Kevin Rolland took home his second consecutive Dew Cup

]]>

David Wise won the mens freeski pipe Finals with a score of 94.50 and Kevin Rolland took home his second consecutive Dew Cup at the Toyota Championships after finishing second with 93.00. Torin Yater-Wallace was third with 92.75.

Wise took the lead in his first run and held onto it until the end. In that winning run, Wise started with a switch double 1080, into right 9, left 9, alley oop flatspin 5 tail to end with a double cork 12. With Defending Dew Cup champ Rolland and 16-year-old pipe phemon Yater-Wallace set to drop in after him, he wasn't leaving things up to chance and decided to go for his first-ever 14 on his second and final run.

“My first run was good, it was really a solid run for me, so I kind of felt like I had to add a little bit of something to it," Wise said. "The 14 was the first thing that came to mind, so dropping in I was like, ‘OK, I’ll go for that 14 at the end. I know it’s there. It’s just one extra rotation. I can get it.’ “

He wasn't able to land it, but he was so close to bringing it around. This is a great season for the 21-year-old from Reno, who's coming off a win in pipe at X Games.

“I’m on a hot streak for sure," Wise said. "It’s fun to be out here enjoying the sport. Landing runs. I’ve been around in the scene for a long time and did a lot of finals where I just didn’t quite get the run the way I wanted to. So just being able to land runs and just enjoy doing what I do has been awesome. And that’s honestly what’s made the difference for me."

For Kevin, he was sitting in 11th place going into his final run after falling on his first, and the Dew Cup was hanging well out of his reach. If he finished below 7th place, the Cup would belong to Yater-Wallace.

"It was trouble in my mind," Rolland said. "It was really odd in my mind at the top, and I just tried to put the run to grab the Dew Cup."

He came back and dropped switch into a 900, to switch 720, back-to-back double flips and finished with a double cork 1260 to earn the second-place and the Dew Cup for his highest overall season rank.

"It feels really, really great," Rolland said. "Especially this year because I didn’t get the X Games win and I didn’t get the last Dew Tour."

Yater-Wallace could have had a very different outcome had his ski not come off when landing the last trick of a perfectly executed first-run that included a double cork 12 mute into an alley oop flat 5 and a double flair. Miraculously he was still able to stay on his feet, and rode it out on one ski. His explanation for pulling it off: "I was just so stoked to land, and I just needed to, so I had to." It brought cheers from the crowd, that were quickly replaced by boos towards the judges when his score suffered for it.

But with one run left, he came back for redemption with a double cork 12, alley oop double, double cork 9, left 10, into a switch 9. His third-place finish bumped Simon Dumont off the podium and into 4th with a 91.75.

"I feel great about my season," Yater-Wallace said. "I guess I’ve been on the podium at almost every event so far. So I can’t be happier. I don’t care where I really ended up today, I just wanted to be on the podium so bad and I was. I had a ton of fun and I put down a run I had never done before, which has been my goal for a while, and I just couldn’t be happier."

<![CDATA[Devin Logan Wins Women's Freeski Pipe Finals and Dew Cup]]> http://allisports.com/alli/news/devin-logan-wins-womens-freeski-pipe-finals For the first time in Winter Dew Tour history, the women's freeski pipe athletes were competing for a shot at the Dew Cup

]]>

For the first time in Winter Dew Tour history, the women's freeski pipe athletes were competing for a shot at the Dew Cup, awarded to the highest overall in season standings. After Saturday's Finals at the Toyota Championships, Devin Logan won the Cup and the event with a score of 90.00.

“I knew I was in contention for the Dew Cup and just had to come out and put down the best run I could," Logan said. "I had slope this morning, so I was a bit tired, but I got some energy, found some deep down and ended up doing it, so I’m thrilled." She also won the slope Semi's held earlier in the day.

In pipe, she came back in her second run to take the win with a Japan grab, to 5 tail grab, flair, mute grab, alley oop critical, 7 mute, to finish with a switch alley oop 5.

Canadian freeskier Rosalind Groenewoud finished in second with 82.50 on her second run that went like this: Japan grab, to 5 tail grab, flair, mute grab, alley oop critical, 7 mute, switch alley oop 5.

"I feel good," Groenewoud said. "Both my runs had little mistakes in them, so obviously I would have liked to be cleaner. But my second run had a trick I’ve never completed before, a kind of cork 5 flair upside down. So I was happy about doing that for the first time in competition and I’m hoping to clean it up for next event."

Maddie Bowman, who came into the event ranked first overall, finished third with 80.00.

Logan not only won the Dew Cup and the Toyota Championships title, she earned the Paul Mitchell Breakthrough Athlete of the Year award, largely for her 2nd place finish in both slope and pipe finals at the Winter Dew Tour's Pantech Invitational in Killington, Vt. She was stoked to accept her award.

"That’s awesome," Logan said. "I know my family was out there voting for me so much. They were rallying up everyone they knew. That definitely helped push, but also you add the athletes’ vote and seeing that I was thrilled. I’m just so happy winning Dew Cup, Breakthrough Athlete and my first double threat. It’s a dream come true. It hasn’t set in yet."

Tomorrow she will compete in the slopestyle finals, with a great potential for earning back-to-back Dew Cups in both the pipe and slope disciplines.

Only two points separated overall season leader Iouri Podladtchikov from defending Dew Cup champ Louie Vito heading into Saturday's Winter Dew Tour championships.

In the end, Vito won the men's snowboard Pipe Finals with his score of 98.00, increasing his lead with the highest score ever to take home the Dew Cup at the Toyota Championships, held Saturday at Utah's Snowbasin Resort. I-Pod finished second with 97.00.

"I-Pod’s riding so well, he’s so consistent and he definitely pushes me every time I snowboard," Vito said. "So it was nice to be one and two with him going into the final stop, because it made me make sure I was on my game and he definitely brought it for sure."

But Vito answered back in his winning run with a double crippler, double Michalchuk, front double 10, cab double 10, front 10 to end with a cab 7.

Up at the top of the pipe, as the last rider to go, I-Pod had one more shot at taking over the top spot.

"It was really interesting up there," I-Pod said. "I was like, 98, alright, what the hell am I going to do now."

He responded with a Double McTwist, front double, Cab double, front 10 into a Cab 10. While perfectly executed, it wasn't enough to take the win.

"I’m really happy with my run," I-Pod said. "It’s kind of a long pipe and it’s really under vert, so I was trying to fix a new run together. And it really worked out for me. Louie taking it in the end, I’ll give it to him. But the battle is on."

Results after the first round saw Vito leading over I-Pod (94.75 to 93.00) with one run left for each. After an amazing first run, Trevor Jacob was sitting in third at the end first heat, while rocking a sweet Star Wars-esque full face helmet for extra confidence while boosting his massive airs.

Second round highlights included an amazing run from Spencer Shaw, which included his first ever frontside 14 halfway through, and let him take over the third place position from Jacob and finish on top of the podium.

"That was the first time I’ve ever done that run and a 14," Shaw said. "My heart was pounding so hard at the top of the pipe, and it all worked out, I’m so excited. I’ve never tried it before. Right before I dropped in, my coach was like, ‘Why don’t you try that?’ and I was like, ‘Ok,’ and I dropped in and it worked out well."

For Vito, it was back-to-back Dew Cups after he pulled it off again this season.

"I got two seconds and what do they say? I was the bridesmaid and never the bride, or something like that," Vito said. "I get tired of being second. I’m stoked to be consistent but I wanted to at least get on top of the podium this year. I did and what better place than where I’m living now in Utah, at the Toyota Championships, to walk away with the Dew Cup."

<![CDATA[Kelly Clark Comes Back for Pipe Win and Earns Third Dew Cup]]> http://allisports.com/alli/news/wins-womens-snowboard-pipe-finals Kelly Clark came back and took down Gretchen Bleiler to bring home the Toyota Championships win

]]>

Kelly Clark came back and took down Gretchen Bleiler to bring home the Toyota Championships win and her third Dew Cup at the women's snowboard pipe Finals. Her score of 95.00 to Bleiler's 94.25 gave her the advantage during Saturday's event at Utah's Snowbasin Resort.

The lead changed hands between the two riders, with Bleiler in the lead going into second and final runs. Her first run started off with a massive crippler, backside 5, frontside 9, backside air, frontside 9, backside air, frontside 7 to end with a cab 7 and score 91.00. Clark responded with an inverted 7, and back-to-back 5s in her run, but it left her sitting in second with an 89.25.

China’s Xuetong Cai was another big contender with massive amplitude and 5s and 7s mixed into her run, and she finished in third with and 89.75.

But the battle of the Finals really became all about Bleiler and Clark, who were both guaranteed a Dew Cup with the win.

Bleiler dropped in for her second run before Clark, and started things off with a massive Crippler, 900 tail grab, backside air tail grab, and a frontside 7 mixed into her run. She managed to increase her lead with the 94.25, but with Clark still up top and waiting to drop, there was no guarantee that score would hold up, and such was the case.

“I really had to stay focused on what I came out to do today,” Clark said. “My strategy really gets tested when I’m put in that position where the scenarios change dropping into my final run. I have to stick to the plan regardless of what’s going on around me, and that’s what I was able to do and land it on my feet and come through with the win.”

For Bleiler, it was a bit of a repeat from the first event of the season where she also finished second to Clark.

“I’m bummed,” Bleiler said. “Again, Breck was super close. This was super close. It just keeps me motivated to keep working harder. Last Dew Tour in Breck, that already motivated me for this event and getting my tailgrabs around more on my front 9s. I didn’t do my back 9 today, so I still have more to give. And I know I can do front 10s since my front 9s are coming around so easy now. I’m not too worried, but I’m a little bummed that it was so close."
